Charity day

First charity day of the year a success

12 FebShire LeasingCSR

On Friday 26th January 2018, Shire held a donation day to help create Starter Packs for the young people in the St. Basils Project,  the monthly charity selected as part of Shire Leasing’s CSR efforts.

We were overwhelmed with the contributions from our employees, some very thoughtful packages were put together to fill out an entire estate car with new items for the project. From washing up liquid to full dinner services, dishcloths to duvets, the team really did pull out all the stops. Everyone was invited to wear casual clothing during this day and could contribute voluntary cash donations if they so wished.

We concluded the month’s events with an appeal for unwanted Christmas gifts and held a “Festive Tombola” which was sold out within minutes. Together with Shire Leasingäó»s matched funding, this meant we could invite St Basils in to receive a cheque to the value of £242.

We enjoyed talking to Anne from St. Basils and getting an insight into actually how much of a difference St. Basils make in the community. It was also very humbling for employees Cliff Knott and Sharon Fox who voluntarily delivered the donations to the project. “The donations were so gratefully received by the young people. It really was an absolute pleasure to see the work that St. Basils do first hand”.

The money raised by The Shire Business Group will help to support the young people and aid towards prevention of homelessness.
